Nongnooch Pattaya Garden has 348 species in cultivation out of the total 352 species of cycads from around the world, and several are not known in cultivation elsewhere
The Cycad collection is of importance as this plant group is critically endangered and in grave threat of extinction worldwide. The garden has hosted the 6th International Conference on Cycad Biology in 2002 and has held two Cycad Horticulture Workshops in 2017 and 2019.
The garden is involved in several conservation programs to save cycads from extinction in the wild in several countries. Peer-reviewed published research has also been conducted in the garden in many fields concerning Cycads.
