Today at 9:00 a.m., Mr. Kampon Tansacha, the president of Nong Nooch Pattaya Garden, along with the executive team, invited Phrakhru Silasarathikhun, the Abbot of Khao Khanthamath Temple, Sattahip Subdistrict, to participate in a ceremony welcoming the first elephant born in 2024 at the garden. This ceremony is a tradition at Nong Nooch Garden, held whenever an elephant gives birth, to welcome the new member to the Elephant Camp. Phang Nong Ploy, aged 24, who has previously given birth twice, was carefully monitored by the staff for a full month before she gave birth on April 30, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The staff tied her to a stake at 10:45 p.m. for the safety of the baby elephant, which was born healthy and female. She was named Pang Meesa during the welcoming ceremony. The ceremony included a procession of dancers and 30 elephants, adorned with garlands and anointing powder applied to the foreheads of both the mother and baby elephants for blessings. Nongnooch Garden cares for a total of 74 elephants, with a dedicated team of veterinarians and mahouts ensuring their well-being. The Elephant sanctuary at Nongnooch Garden has been recognized and received a certificate of good practice standards from the Department of Livestock Development and the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards, making it the first of its kind in Thailand.
