PRAYER FLAGS OF BHUTAN
The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bhutan in Thailand gave a good fortune flags to Nongnooch Pattaya Garden to show gratitude and bond a relationship together as a brother and sister.
“Montra Flag” is a symbol representing a good fortune.
On 17 May, 2018 around 09.00 AM, Mr. Che Wang Choel Dorje, Ambassador of Bhutan in Thailand together with the management team of Nongnooch Pattaya Garden joined a ceremony of “Montra Flag”; it is the symbol of good fortune. There are 9 pillars located near the Thai Pavilion in Nongnooch Pattaya Garden , for this ceremony, we also invited important persons such as Mr.Provost Tasanee Kunakorn and Sattahip team. The people of Bhutan wanted to show their gratitude to Nongnooch Pattaya Garden on organizing the Friendship Garden at Bhutan Embassy in Thailand. On this occasion, the Mr. Provost anointed the Montra Flag for prosperity, and the management team of Nongnooch Pattaya Garden also joined to place the pillars enshrined around the Thai Pavilion and the French Garden.
Mr. Kampon Tansacha, the owner of Nongnooch Pattaya Garden, stated that for the flag of Bhutan, it is considered as the flag of fortune, waving and blowing good things for the people and the tourists who come to visit Nongnooch Pattaya Garden.
Montra Flag is a flag made from thin woven fabric and also inscribed with chanting on the flag. There are 5 colours of flags and it have different meaning such as the following:
– Blue refers to Water element – healthy and long life
– White refers to Wind element – doing good thing sincerely
– Red refers to Fire element – fulfillment
– Green refers to Wood element – sympathy and vitality
– Yellow refers to Earth element – success beyond obstacles
Therefore, the tourists who come to visit Nongnooch Pattaya Garden will not see only the beauty of the garden, but also have the opportunity to do the good things. Most importantly, the Montra Flag is considered as a symbol of Buddhism in Bhutan, and they brought to decorate at Nongnooch Pattaya Garden.
Nongnooch Pattaya Garden will receive the Montra Flag every 6 months from Bhutan Embassy in Thailand. This is because the color of the old flags will fade and tear. So, when the new flags come, we will perform the same ceremony.
